HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — This season of giving, officials at LifeSouth Community Blood centers want you to give something that could potentially save a life: Blood donations.
The holidays are a busy time, so less people are donating blood, but experts say now is not the time to slow down. The number of accidents increase as people travel for the holidays, making it crucial for blood banks to stay stocked.
"You never know, when there might be an emergency situation so we're not at a comfortable level right now," said LifeSouth North Alabama District Director Kelley McPhail. "We really like to have a five to seven-day supply."
Currently, they only have about a two-day supply of blood. If you want to donate, you can find a blood drive near you on LifeSouth's website.
