ATHENS, Ala. — Limestone County is steadily developing and there is much more to come. Expansion is on the rise, and Limestone County Economic Development Association CEO Bethany Shockney says there's much more on the way.
Shockney says, " There's been a lot of things in the news lately about our growth and about things that are coming to our area, and that's exciting for us."
As far as growth for industrial development, a little under 200 jobs have been announced this year for job creation in Limestone County. "We've had over $100 million that has been identified. and that's outside of the Buc-ee's situation, and Buc-ee's is expected to bring in about $100 million in revenue annually and of course, that in itself is 200 jobs," says Shockney.
Another thing that is confirmed is low unemployment and the openings for jobs becoming fewer, with unemployment is still bumping just a little under 2%.
LCEDA also offers scholarships. Shockney says, "Coming up in this, in the springtime, we feel that there are opportunities for these students to get scholarships, to continue their education. "
And if anyone is looking for job openings? " AIDT has a website for them, as well as the Alabama Career Centers. The North Alabama Works has links on their web page that also tells about job opportunities and then, of course, going straight to the company.”
