MOULTON, Ala. — A 13-year-old was taken into custody Friday night after allegedly bringing a BB gun to a football game.
Chief Deputy Brian Covington with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened during the Hatton/East Lawrence High School game. Officials said the teen was seen "brandishing" the gun.
"Several spectators observed the event and the SRO (School Resource Officer) was notified," Covington said in a written statement. "
Covington said the SRO confronted the teen and performed a pat-down search where the gun was located.
The teen was being held in the custody of the Department of Youth Services as of Friday evening. They face a charge of bringing a gun onto school property.
