GERALDINE, Ala. — Geraldine residents in need of medical care will be able to do so at a brand new facility when the new year begins.
Saturday, Congressman Robert Aderholt acted as host for the dedication of The Geraldine Clinic's new digs, the former Liberty Bank location on Highway 75. The bank moved out of the smaller building back in 2020 and donated it to the Town of Geraldine.
Aderholt's office worked with Mayor Chuck Ables to allocate $375,000 for the benefit of renovating and upgrading the bank building's plumbing and electrical system for its new role as a medical facility.
"It will be opening the door on a healthier future for, Geraldine, DeKalb County, and the entire region," Aderholt said during the dedication ceremony.
The clinic's current location at a strip mall further along Hwy. 75, is already closed for the holidays and to allow staff to move into the new building.
Owners Michelle and Jeff Stuart have been marking progress on the clinic's upgrades over the past few months on their Facebook page. In September they asked the public to write notes of encouragement and thanks to the contractors putting up new walls and data lines so they could be hung up as they did their work.
Following Saturday's ceremony, Aderholt and his wife stayed in order to act as Grand Marshals for the city's annual Christmas parade.
