HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — On Halloween, some local groups volunteered to clean the Huntsville Madison County Veterans Memorial Park ahead of 'Veterans Day'.
Members of Boy Scouts of America 'All Boys Troop 94' and 'All Girls Troop 95" from Toney, joined 'The Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville' to wash statues, plaques, and benches.
One member of Boys Scouts of America - 'All Girls Troop 95', Charlotte Klos, says she's been cleaning the park for about two years now. Klos says it's all about service.
"We make people happy. We serve the community, and we do it from the bottom of our hearts," says Klos.
The groups clean the park every month. Leaders believe it's a way for the youth to remember those who sacrificed and served.
"It's teaching our youth the importance of what this memorial means, and it's showing them all these people have died for our country and really given them a sense of pride in our flag and our freedom," says Boy Scouts of America, Scoutmaster All Girls Troop 95, Read Klos.
The groups started cleaning the park since July of last year.
