HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Pizzelle's Confections has been serving its guests fine chocolate and unique desserts in Huntsville since 2013, and now it's in the running to be named USA Today Readers' Choice Best Chocolate Shop.
Twenty independent chocolate shops from around the country were nominated, with the winner determined by public voting. Pizzelle's co-owner Michelle Novosel says, "We are just really thrilled and honored to be a part of this, this great array of wonderful chocolatiers throughout the nation and to be recognized nationwide, that's really, really special for us. We put a lot of hard work and blood, sweat, and tears into Pizzelle's Confections, and we're so, so grateful to be recognized."
So what's Pizzelle's famous for? Novosel says it's their fine chocolate, but there's something for everyone. "We're best known for our fine chocolate. So everyone has their favorite here. We usually have about 18-24 different varieties of chocolate bonbons, candy bars, large bonbons. But of course, like the Steel Magnolia with Alabama with the heart on it is one of our crowd favorites."
All of their goodies are made in-house with fine, fair-trade Felchlin chocolate, using local ingredients whenever possible. Some of their truffle flavors are out-of-the-ordinary: Earl Grey tea & local honey; cayenne, cinnamon, coffee liqueur, and vanilla; lemon curd, white chocolate, limoncello, and raspberry pate de fruit; Irons One Bourbon Whiskey and 18.21 Havana & hide Bitters; dark chocolate ganache, cacao nibs, chocolate crunch, and sea salt; vanilla bean milk chocolate, dark chocolate, chicory, and coffee. Mini-cakes change regularly and often include chocolate, fresh fruit, and seasonal flavors.
And the shop is not just about chocolates and cakes. They also have house-made ice cream with locally-sourced ingredients, macarons, coffees, homemade sodas, cookies, caramels, and more...something for every taste.
Pizzelle's Confections just opened in their new location at Campus 805 at 2500 Clinton Ave., Huntsville. They share a building with X Golf, Parlor Doughnuts, and Pints and Pixels.
