MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. — Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) has teamed up with the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) to offer summer jobs to young people in the area starting June 1.

NWSCC hopes to fill about 30 part-time positions across its Phil Campbell and Shoals campuses. To qualify, people must meet income guidelines set by the Alabama Department of Human Resources. To be eligible for the Summer Youth Employment Program, people must be between 16 and 24 years old and meet the 2024 Federal Poverty Guidelines based on their household income and family size.

The program aims to give people life and job skills, including time management, reliability, and teamwork. Participants will work in departments like athletics, maintenance, IT, student services, and grant programs under the guidance of supervisors. The Summer Youth Employment Program will run until July 31, offering students $10 per hour for up to 20 hours of work per week.
