FLORENCE, Ala. — 16 people are without a home this weekend following a late Friday night fire at a Florence apartment complex. A Facebook post made by Florence Fire Rescue stated that three units were called to the Heatherwood Apartments on Mars Hill Road just before midight.
When fire units got to the scene they found flames shooting through the roof of a two-story, four-unit building.
"Crews made an interior attack on the fire but were withdrawn due to full involvement of the attic area of the building," RFR said in their post. "Defensive operations were then used to bring the fire under control."
All four apartment units sustained heavy damage from fire, smoke, and water. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
