Hartselle Police seek suspect in August burglary investigation

Police say two people have already been arrested in connection with the burglary and are seeking to arrest a third.

HARTSELLE, Ala. — The Hartselle Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a burglary that occurred at a local business. On August 19, 2024, officers responded to a report of a burglary. After a thorough investigation, three suspects were identified and two have been arrested. 

The suspects, identified as Dakota James Ballenger, age 26 of Somerville, William Kenneth Hodges, age 35, of Somerville, and Justin Scott Hardaway, age 40, of Athens, after evidence linked them to the crime. Ballenger was arrest on October 1, 2024, and Hodges on October 2, 2024. The two were booked into the Morgan County Jail for Burglary 3rd and given a $20,000.00 bond. 

Sgt. Lesley Sheffield with the Criminal Investigation Division requests the public's assistance with information on the whereabouts of Justin Scott Hardaway. Hardaway is known to change locations to various RV parks. Hardaway was last seen driving a 2009 black Dodge Challenger with a red stripe, he also drives an older model (two-tone) maroon/black Chevrolet Silverado extended cab truck.
