DECATUR, Ala. — Two people are dead following a fiery crash on I-65 on Friday, officials have confirmed.
A Ford pickup pulling a trailer was hit from behind by a car just before 5:30 p.m., according to Limestone County Coroner Mike West. The car was then hit by a U-Haul truck.
West confirmed the deaths with FOX54 and also confirmed there were no other injuries involved.
Officials with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency have closed southbound lanes of I-65 near Mile Marker 342. This is near Garrett Rd. in the Decatur jurisdiction.
Southbound traffic is being diverted at Exit 347 to Huntsville Brownsferry Road.
ALDOT information says closures are expected to last through at least 9:30 p.m.
