HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Madison County Commission recently honored Free 2 Teach with a Resolution for its contributions to education in Madison County. The Resolution acknowledges the nonprofit’s efforts to enhance the educational experience for public-school students and teachers. Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon also presented a $15,000 donation to support teachers in the coming year.

“It is a privilege and honor to support the efforts of Free 2 Teach,” shared Chairman McCutcheon, “It was important to the Commission to not only officially recognize and thank Free 2 Teach for their dedication, but to also provide funding to support the work they are doing to impact teachers and kids with supplies and resources.”

Free 2 Teach assists teachers and school staff in 88 public schools across Madison County through a year-round free supply store. Over its 13-year history, the organization has given away more than $13.5 million in supplies.

“This Resolution means so much to us,” shares Free 2 Teach Executive Director, Alison Kling. “The Commission’s recognition and financial support of our work comes at a time when we are busier than ever, having served over 1,200 teachers in the last month alone. I am honored to accept this Resolution on behalf of our volunteers, staff, donors, and board. We are thankful!”

The free store operates 11 months a year, allowing teachers to visit every month. Community support ensures that every child, regardless of economic background, has the tools needed to succeed.

Teachers and staff in Madison County’s public schools can schedule a visit to the store. Those who would like to make a donation can visit here.
