Madison County Schools COVID dashboard reports more than 600 positive COVID cases among students, staff

Students returned to school on August 4. On August 25, the district reported 641 positive cases among staff and students.

MADISON COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala. — Madison County Schools is reporting more than 600 cases among students and staff.

As of August 25, the district is reporting 641 positive cases of COVID-19 among its staff and students.

The Sparkman "Family of Schools" had the highest number with 271 cases. The family includes:

  • Endeavor Elementary
  • Harvest Elementary
  • Legacy Elementary
  • Madison Cross Roads
  • Monrovia Elementary 
  • Monrovia Middle
  • Sparkman High
  • Sparkman Middle 
  • Sparkman Ninth Grade

Sparkman High School has the highest number of cases in the district with 63 cases, followed by Buckhorn High School with 54 cases.

Madison Co. Career Tech/PACE has the fewest cases at one.

On August 12, due to an increase in COVID cases, the schools moved to "Level 1" of their Ready, Set, Forward plan. The means that masks are required for all students, staff, and visitors inside all buildings until Friday, September 3, 2021. Students will also be separated as much as possible 

During this time, the district will reevaluate the level of spread and determine the appropriate level moving forward. 

Level 2 requires face masks and enhanced social distancing and sanitizing, as well as changes to school facilities, schedules, and buses to keep capacity under 60%

Level 3 closes schools and moves everyone to virtual learning.
