Madison County schools start "Blended Learning Plan"

It's back-to-virtual-school for Madison County students.

MADISON COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala. — After working with students for the last two weeks to prepare for virtual back-to-school, Madison County students are back-to-school at home with a  "Blended Learning Plan".

New Hope High School principal David Manning says students are ready to finish the school year. "So this just gives our students an opportunity to extend what they have been working on and to continue to do what they have been asked to do. Our communication here at New Hope has been great, our parents have been great, our students have been great, so we are just going to play the hand we have been dealt, and continue on as normal as we possibly can."

Nearly 20,000 students in the district will be working with to finish the year using the "Digital Backpack" provided on the district's website. they'll be able to download lessons for the next six weeks.

For students who don't have access to the internet or a device, they'll get their lessons in packets. These will be sorted, delivered to all 29 locations, and the school will see those are distributed to students who need them.

The school system will contact parents regarding when to pick them up. In some cases..they will be mailed to the student's homes to protect the safety of families.

Teachers have been working with students for the last few weeks, offering lessons and guidance to prepare everyone for what's rapidly becoming "the new normal."
