HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Get ready music fans! The Huntsville Music Office is inviting the community to join in the celebration of Make Music Day Huntsville on Friday, June 21. This annual event, part of a global initiative spanning over 1,000 cities, welcomes participants of all skill levels. Hosted by the Huntsville Music Office and the Huntsville Hospital Music Therapy Program, the event aims to showcase the city's diverse music scene.

“This event embodies our vision of becoming a music city, offering everyone a chance to perform, whether you're a seasoned guitarist or amateur pianist,” said Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella. “This event is all about inclusivity and promoting our diverse music ecosystem.”

To join in on the fun, visit Make Music Day Huntsville to register as performers or venues. Performers can create profiles showing their musical style and instruments, while venues can scout and invite artists. Collaboration is encouraged, and performances can range from 15-minute sets to longer sessions upon request.

Confirmed venues for the event include the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce and the downtown branch of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library. Additionally, Huntsville City Hall and Huntsville Hospital will also host performances.

“From our hospital halls to downtown, Huntsville will resonate with amazing talent on June 21,” said Eugene Johnson, manager of the Huntsville Hospital Music Therapy Program. “This event showcases music's healing power.”

Since 2007, Make Music Day, organized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation, has been celebrated on June 21, the summer solstice. Cities across Alabama, including Decatur, Florence, Gadsden, Gulf Shores, and Montgomery, also take part in the festivities.
