HAZEL GREEN, Ala. — A man has been arrested after a road rage incident at the Walmart on Highway 231 in Hazel Green.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened around 8:10 a.m. on Monday. James William Moore is accused of following another driver from Taft, Tennessee. Authorities say he struck the victim's car and fired a gun at it.
The chase ended at Walmart, where Moore used a baseball bat to hit the victim's car before leaving the scene. The victim was not injured.
Moore was later arrested in Lincoln County, Tennessee, for a different reason.
Between October 18 and October 21, several reports of road rage incidents were filed in southern Lincoln County. During the investigation, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office found that Moore had committed these offenses.
Moore was later arrested in Lincoln County for multiple charges, including two counts of vandalism, two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and disorderly conduct.
While he was being processed at the jail, Moore was found to be in possession of contraband, leading to an additional charge of introduction of contraband in a penal facility. His total bond on these charges is set at $105,000.
Moore may face additional charges as the investigation continues.
This incident is not connected to another road rage case from over the weekend near Hazel Green Pharmacy, where two teens reported being shot at after another driver ran them off the road.
