UNION GROVE, Ala — A company based in Union Grove has purchased a private agency that provides emergency services to parts of the country that are outside municipal coverage boundaries.
Brindlee Fire Services will assume operation of Rural Metro, which originated in the 1950s as a protective service for unincorporated parts of Arizona. It has since expanded to communities from coast to coast.
The company is owned by Global Medical Response.
“We carefully considered a number of options as we searched for an organization that would be the best home for Rural Metro Fire, and we are confident that Brindlee Fire Services’ unique structure and focus on supporting communities and fire departments alike makes them the right choice," Global Medical Response CEO Nick Loporcaro said in a statement.
The deal is expected to close by the end of this year.
“This transaction marks the beginning of a new Rural Metro Fire, and we are looking forward to continuing to provide exemplary fire services to the communities we serve,” Rural Metro Fire Chief Mike Ragone said in a statement.
Brindlee's history dates to 2001, when it was established as Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus, a used fire truck sales and service company.
“Brindlee Fire Services was founded for the sole purpose of providing excellent support to fire departments and the people they serve," said James Wessel, Brindlee Fire Services CEO. "I have admired Rural Metro for my entire career, and I’m thrilled to have them join the Brindlee Fire Services family. This acquisition strengthens our ability to equip fire departments with the tools and resources they need to protect their communities."
