MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. — Marshall County voters approved a measure Tuesday to allow alcohol sales across the county.
With 73% of voters in favor, the county will transition from a "moist" status—where alcohol sales were limited—to a "wet" county, where alcohol can be sold throughout the area. As a result, businesses will now be able to sell alcohol in all parts of Marshall County.
The change is significant for the county, which had previously limited alcohol sales to certain areas. Local businesses like Hog Leg Barbecue have felt the impact of the restrictions, as customers often drive to nearby cities to buy alcohol.
Local and county governments will oversee alcohol sales to ensure they comply with regulations.
