FLORENCE, Ala. — McFarland Park in Florence is set to receive significant upgrades after the city was awarded a grant of $437,073.32 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). This funding is part of a total project valued at $874,146.64.

In partnership with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), the grant will provide new RV camping pads, upgrade electrical service, and improve water and sewer hookups. Additionally, the renovations will enhance the park with new amenities such as Wi-Fi hotspots, a stone fire pit, picnic tables, and grills.

"McFarland Park is a beloved destination for our local community and visitors across the region. These renovations will make the park even more welcoming and enjoyable for everyone," said Florence Mayor Andy Betterton. "Thanks to the LWCF and ADECA, we can invest in this vital outdoor space and ensure it remains a top-notch destination for years to come."

The City of Florence also expressed gratitude to Beau Cooper with NACOLG for applying for the grant on the city’s behalf and recognized the support of Alabama political leaders, including Senator Tommy Tuberville, Senator Katie Britt, and Congressman Robert Aderholt.
