Longtime Huntsville native relinquishes charge of Army Reserve Medical Command

Maj. Gen. W. Scott Lynn assumed command of Army Reserve Medical Command on June 26, 2022.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — MG W. Scott Lynn handed over leadership duties of the Army Reserve Medical Command at a ceremony Sunday morning, with the role now belonging to Brig. Gen. Michael Yost.

At the ceremony, he told his soldiers in part, "to always temper action with wisdom in the pursuit of excellence."

Lynn assumed command of ARMEDCOM on June 26, 2022. His career includes stints as Deputy Commanding General for Operations, 807th Medical Command and Commanding General for TF807th MED under Army North (ARNORTH), commanding over 3,200 Army, Navy, and Air Force medical forces during the nation’s first wave COVID response. 

A longtime Huntsville resident and physician at Radiology of Huntsville, Dr. Lynn received his M.D. from the University of Alabama School of Medicine (UAB) and completed his radiology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he served two terms as chief resident. 

He is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3). MG Lynn grew up as an Army dependent, living in numerous locations to include Heidelberg, Germany and the Marshall Islands. He and his wife, Virginia, have six children.
