SHEFFIELD, Ala. — UPDATE (6/20): Sheffield police have confirmed that the body found was of 21-year-old Keil McCoy from Indiana.
6/19: Sheffield Police reported that the body of a missing swimmer was found this afternoon just after 5:00pm. Multiple agencies assisted in the recovery, including Sheffield Police, Sheffield Fire, Colbert County EMA, and State Troopers. The swimmer's name has not been released at this time.
Colbert County Sheriff Eric Balentine shared that Wednesday afternoon, authorities were notified that a swimmer was missing in the Eagle Point and Whippoorwill area of Sheffield, that he had gone in the water and not come up. His friends tried to retrieve him but were unable to.
