Mix 96.9 and VBC announce 2022 Huntsville Christmas Parade theme

Mix 96.9, the Von Braun Center, and event sponsors shared the theme of this year's Huntsville Christmas Parade and what to expect at the event.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — It's September, and the air feels a little cooler...maybe it's because Santa made a visit to Huntsville.

Mix 96.9, the Von Braun Center, and community sponsors gathered to share this year's Huntsville Christmas Parade theme which was voted on by the community this summer. Bill Taylor with Mix 96.9 shared "the winner for this year…was "Rockin Around the Christmas Tree!"

A theme that's got Santa's approval. "It's going to have a great theme. There's going to be so many lights because it's at nighttime and it's in beautiful downtown Huntsville. When the parade is over, you can go by the tree trail. It's an incredible evening."

The parade will take place on December 8 starting at 6 PM.

And this year's parade Grand Marshal will be Lee Marshall, the CEO and Founder of "Kids to Love", an organization meeting the needs of children in foster care. Marshall shares, "We provide Christmas for more than 2000 kids every year, and our warehouse is already bustling with our elves filling the wish list. And so we're honored to be a part of this, to raise more toys, more gifts, more clothes for our kids that night so we can make sure that every child in our care at Christmas has exactly what they need."

Marshall says you can go to the "Kids to Love" website if you are interested in donating to the Christmas wish list.

And Mayor Tommy Battle shares there's a lot to see this year. "You'll see lots of people in the parade. You'll see lots of people along the side of the road. But it's a great way to celebrate our holidays here and in town. You'll have a lot of other activities right in the same area. You're going to have the tinsel trail. You're going to have ice skating at the back of the museum."

If you are interested in registering a parade float, you can go to Mix 96.9's website.
