Morgan County Sheriff’s Office alerts public to phone scams

MCSO warns that they will not use phone calls to discuss arrest details, warrants, jury duty, fines, or bail/bond payments.

DECATUR, Ala. — The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about phone scams targeting residents. The office stated it will not contact anyone over the phone regarding:

  • Arrests
  • Warrants
  • Jury duty
  • Fines
  • Bail or bond payments

The Sheriff’s Office advises residents to never send cash over the phone or through an app. 

If you receive a suspicious call, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office recommends hanging up and verifying any claims directly with their office.
