HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The mother of a 14-year-old boy who was seriously hurt last week in a hit-and-run accident is taking her appreciation for the community's support to social media.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Nicole Chandler Drouin said the prayers of others have made a world of difference. She's asking now for those prayers to be extended to teammates and coaches affected by the incident.
"I have posted what I can over the past few days but I wanted to share how it is also so important to lift his team and coaches in prayer," Drouin said. "They were with him during the accident and has to see it all unfold. So please send prayers over all of them and their families during this time of healing."
Chandler Drouin was hurt when he was struck by a car during Grissom High School cross-country practice on Wednesday.
Doctors told the family that the boy sustained multiple broken bones in his leg torso and skull.
The Facebook post comes one day after Drouin shared a statement with FOX54 about the incident.
A 21-year-old man, Jarod Monroe Severance, was arrested and charged in the case.
