HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Two Men and a Truck is partnering with local businesses, organizations, churches, and more to collect essential care items for moms in crisis. All donations will be gifted to a local shelter as a Big Mother’s Day present! This year, Two Men and a Truck will be delivering the Movers for Moms donations to Downtown Rescue Mission’s women’s & children’s shelter Owen’s House.
"We will be collecting essential care items for the women here at Downtown Rescue Mission, specifically Owen's House, it's a collection drive to provide critical gifts to local women staying in community shelters," said Marketing Director for Two Men and a Truck, Stephanie Mills. Mills said this is the fourth year Movers for Moms is hosting their annual Spring giveback. "We do it every year to help moms in crisis," she stated.
One mother of three who went through Owen's House shared her personal testimony. "Shawn told us a story about how she came from a bad domestic violence situation with ex-boyfriends, and she was able to go into the program at Owens House," Mills explained. "This program offers so much, we learn about God, we learn responsibility and how to love others like God loves us. It has changed my life.... thank you, Downtown Rescue Mission, for being my rainbow. Thank you, God, for showing me the way back to you she iterated. Shawn has now graduated from the program and is working at the Owen's House.
"This is the person that we're doing this for. This is the moms and the children that can't help themselves, that are running from bad situations. We are collecting items and getting the word out about the need there, so that Owen's House can do what they do and help the women get on their feet and share the gospel," said Mills.
