HAZEL GREEN, Ala. — A family of four is dead in what police are calling a murder-suicide that spanned two states.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office went to a home in Hazel Green for a welfare check. They found 43-year-old Jennifer Lepore, a Special Education Aide with Madison County Schools, dead inside the home.
According to a statement from the Sheriff's Office:
Investigators learned that Mrs. Lepore's husband, Jamie Lepore, 46, of Hazel Green, and their two kids had not been seen recently. They were able to determine a possible location for Mr. Lepore in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and contacted Murfreesboro Police Department for assistance. Officers with their agency went to an address to attempt to locate Mr. Lepore and the kids. They discovered what appears to be a murder-suicide involving Mr. Lepore and the two children, Jesse Lepore, 9 years old, and Sean Lepore, 11 years old.
Murfreesboro Police stated that it appears the father and two kids died in a murder suicide. When officers went to the home at the request of MCSO, the hears several gunshots and found 46-year-old Jamie Lepore, who apparently killed himself after shooting his two children, ages nine and 11. They were aware that Lepore was part of the Madison County murder investigation.
Madison County Schools Superintendent Ken Kubik said in a statement:
“The Madison County School System is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of an employee and her two children. MCSS is a tight-knit family, and this event hits us hard. We offer our prayers and condolences to the surviving family members, students, and staff members who this family has touched,” stated MCSS Superintendent Ken Kubik.
"Jennifer Lepore had been employed with the Madison County School System since August 8, 2022. She was a Special Education Aide at Hazel Green Elementary School. Ms. Lepore’s two sons attended schools in the Hazel Green area.
"The Madison County School System and our community partners will provide grief support to the campuses which had immediate contact with the family."
Law enforcement agencies say that the investigation is ongoing.
