SOMERVILLE, Ala. — A shopping center space that has housed grocery stores in the past will be home to another incarnation soon.
Fresh Value announced on Monday that it has taken over the anchor space at Crossroads Center, located at 5276 Hwy. 67 South in Somerville.
In a post to Facebook, the company asked Somerville-area residents to "stay tuned for more updates and an official grand opening date."
The location is the former home to a Piggly Wiggly, which closed years ago and was replaced by a shorter-lived $ave More Family Market.
Fresh Value's origins trace to 1951, when a store called 4th Avenue Supermarket opened in Bessemer, Ala. The family-owned business operates 14 stores, including one in Athens, under the Fresh Value and Meat Depot brands.
