NEW HOPE, Ala. — A new modern library is being added to the story of New Hope in a new location.

The City of New Hope and the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library (HMCPL) system hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate the reopening of the New Hope Public Library on Monday at 10:00 a.m. The new library is located at the New Hope City Plaza off Main Drive in downtown New Hope.

The Library replaces the Elizabeth Carpenter Public Library of New Hope that was closed in August of 2021. The City of New Hope and HMCPL came together to open the new location with many updates including access to a shared community room that offers additional space for children’s storytimes, and more.

Cindy Hewitt, executive director of the HMCPL system, is excited to see this much-needed location open.

“The New Hope Public Library will meet the demand for library services that have been greatly missed in the community,” she said. “We’re proud that we were able to create a warm and inviting environment while retaining many of the qualities of the old Library because they were so important and unique to the community.”

The New Hope Public Library is made possible by the generous support of the City of New Hope, The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library, Madison County Commission District 3, The Daniel Foundation of Alabama, the Butler Family in honor of George Butler and the New Hope Friends of the Library.
