MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama Dept. of Public Health is responding after social media posts falsely claimed that a person in Alabama died after receiving the current COVID-19 vaccine.
ADPH says:
Multiple false posts on Facebook report a death in Alabama in a recipient of COVID-19 vaccine on December 15. The posts are untrue, and no persons who received COVID-19 vaccine in Alabama have died.
The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) has reached out to all hospitals in the state which administered the COVID-19 vaccine and confirmed there have been no deaths of vaccine recipients.
Hospitals in Alabama continue to work diligently to protect the health and well-being of frontline healthcare workers in their fight against this deadly virus. All safety standards and post-vaccine monitoring procedures are in place to ensure the health and well-being of vaccine recipients in Alabama.
Rumors and misinformation can circulate easily during a crisis. Stop the spread of rumors by taking these actions:
- Find trusted sources of information.
- Share information from trusted sources.
- Discourage others from sharing information from unverified sources.
Before considering vaccine information on the Internet, consider guidance from these sources:
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Vaccinations and Immunizations
While ADPH is putting everything in place to distribute and administer COVID-19 vaccine doses as quickly as possible, immunizations are only provided after vaccine safety has been reviewed and approved by a panel of top health experts.

The federal Department of Health and Human Services has a website where you can report adverse vaccine reactions. This is for all vaccines, not just the COVID-19 vaccine.
