KILLEN, Ala. — Eleven agencies were part of the response effort when a fire involving two yachts was reported Sunday morning at the Turtle Point Country Club Marina in Killen.

According to a Facebook post by Killen Fire Rescue:

"At approximately 7 AM this morning, Killen Fire Rescue was dispatched to Turtle Point Country Club Marina for a 65-foot yacht on fire inside the marina. Engine 8 arrived on scene to find two 60-foot yachts involved in fire and advancing towards other vessels.

"Crews stretched two 500-foot 2.5" attack lines to the marina and began extinguishing the fire. Squad 8 arrived and laid 500 feet of LDH supply line into Engine 8’s manifold to ensure a continuous water supply. Firefighters removed the main boat on fire to prevent other boats from being exposed.

"Fire crews safely evacuated several individuals who were on nearby vessels. The secondary yacht fire was brought under control. The main yacht was secured to a secondary pier, and floating booms were deployed around it to contain any hazardous runoff. Crews used 15 gallons of foam to fully extinguish the remaining fire on the main yacht.

"The yacht was then moved from the pier and secured to a barge near Locke Six Boat Ramp.
