Gov. Ivey, ALDOT, announce more than $45 million in funding for road, bridge projects. Some North Alabama counties included

The governor's office said the funding has been made available through the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program-II.

MADISON COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala — Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and the Alabama Department of Transportation have announced more than $45 million in funding for various road and bridge projects across the state.

The governor's office said the funding has been made available through the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program-II, which was created under the Rebuild Alabama Act.

Several North Alabama projects will receive funding through this program, including the following:

  • Jackson County/Scottsboro
    • Adding offset left-turn lanes to SR-2 at the intersection of County Park Road as well as access management modifications and extending two existing access roads.
  • Madison County
    • Adding north and southbound left-turn lanes and traffic signals on SR-53 at the intersections of Harvest Road, McKee Road and Old Railroad Bed Road.
  • Marshall County/Boaz
    • Reducing SR-168 from four lanes to three lanes from US-431 to Darnell Street, including access management upgrades and a traffic signal at the proposed outlet connector road.
  • Marshall County/Arab
    • Upgrading seven existing traffic signals on US-231 within the city limits to correct deficiencies and bring them up to current design standards, including increasing signal height, upgrading poles and signal heads and adding emergency vehicle preemption.
  • Morgan County/Hartselle
    • Access management improvements on USS-31 from Curry Street to Sparkman Street, including modifications to the existing median to add left-turn lanes and deceleration lanes.
