Happenings in North Alabama the weekend of August 16-18

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — This weekend has some events to keep in mind! 

Newcomer’s Fair - On August 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., residents are invited to meet Madison representatives from key community groups at the library. The event will include a meet-and-greet with community groups, speed friending, and a performance by Lana White.

USA Prime Fest - The Huntsville event happens on August 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. The fest will feature a car show with all types of vehicles, a swap meet, custom trophies, live music, and various vendors. 

Harry Potter Wand Craft - At the Huntsville Downtown Library on August 17 at 2 p.m. to create your own wand inspired by the world of Harry Potter. The event, open to ages 10 and up, will provide all necessary supplies.

Crape Myrtle Festival (Ardmore) - The Greater Ardmore Chamber will host the 2024 Crape Myrtle Festival on August 17 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at John Barnes Park in Ardmore, TN. Parking and entry are free. 

Huntsville Hamfest - Takes place on Saturday, August 17, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pre-purchased admission tickets are $12. Tickets bought after August 5 will cost $15. Children 12 and under get in free.

Food Truck Rally at Big Spring Park - August rally canceled due to weather Food Truck Rallies are returning to Big Spring Park with a variety of vendors each month. Enjoy live music, yard games, and activities every third Friday from May to October, 5 to 9 p.m. 

43rd Annual Franklin County Watermelon Festival - Celebrated every third weekend in August, is scheduled for Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17. 

Murder Mystery at the Shoppe - On August 16 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Market at MidCity - Every Sunday until November 10, from noon to 4 p.m., featuring 50 local vendors.

A Journey into Imagimation Exhibit - Showcasing over 100 years of global animation art! Explore this experience at the Huntsville Museum of Art from July 12 to September 29. 

Fun Fridays with P&L - Fun Fridays with Piper & Leaf, happening every Friday from April 26 to October 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. Enjoy an evening of activities, refreshments, and entertainment each week.

Rocket City Bluegrass Jam Weekly bluegrass jam on Sundays at Straight to Ale. Happening from 4 to 8 p.m. 

The Village of Providence Farmers and Artisans Market - Happening every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the market season runs from April 6 to November 30.
