Northrop Grumman and U.S. Army partner to provide program update and behind the scenes tour

The U.S. Army and Northrop Grumman are partnering to give Huntsville residents a look behind the scenes at where their money is going.

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — The U.S. Army and Northrop Grumman gave an update on the Integrated Battle Command System as well as a tour of the Huntsville Manufacturing Center where that program's equipment is currently in production.

Integrated Fires Mission Command Project Manager Christopher Hill's role is to continue to ensure that they are working very closely with their industry partner, Northrop Grumman, "...to design, develop,  procure and sustain the air and missile defense Integrated Battlefield Command System, or more commonly, called IBCS. We want to make sure that everyone understands that,  you know, their hard earned dollars tax dollars are being well spent," he explained.

Northrop Grumman Manufacturing Manager Neil Mattern believes there is a big difference between actually seeing the IBCS equipment on the floor vs. just talking about it. "The efforts, the time that we put in both developing processes, people and technology to deliver this important  technology to our troops."

Northrop Grumman IBCS Program Director Michael Hahn agrees and discusses some of the equipment shown on the tour of the Huntsville Manufacturing facility live and direct.

"Today, we showed you some of the production hardware, including the engagement operations center. That's one of the key elements of the IBCS System within that unit," he said.

"There is this extensive amount of processing power that the soldiers use to develop a single integrated air picture, and then based upon that, they will make decisions on the battlefield in terms of how they want to address threats that are inbound that could damage equipment or hurt our soldiers and effectively intercept those threats to prevent that harm," said Hahn.
