16-year-old charged with Capital Murder in shooting death of 15-year old

Three people showed up at Huntsville Hospital with gunshot wounds after a shooting on Max Luther Drive on Tuesday.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A 16-year-old has been charged with Capital Murder after a 15-year-old died of injuries received during a shooting on Max Luther Drive Tuesday afternoon.

According to Huntsville police, an officer responded to Huntsville Hospital when three people who had been shot arrived for treatment. One died at the hospital and one remains in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer learned the shooting involved juveniles in two vehicles on Max Luther Drive just west of Washington Street. Ballistic evidence was found at that scene.

Later that evening, the suspect vehicle was located with two juveniles in it. After the two were detained and questioned, one was released and one was charges with Capital Murder.

HPD says investigators believe the incident "involves an ongoing dispute between the juveniles that began before Sept. 3. On the day of the shooting, the victims were followed from the area of Blue Spring Road and Sparkman Drive to Max Luther Drive where the shooting occurred."

One is dead, two are hospitalized, two are in custody, and all are juveniles. This is according to Huntsville Police, who are investigating a shooting Tuesday evening. They believe it happened in the area of Max Luther Dr. just west of Washington St.

Deputy Chief Michal Johnson says the people from one vehicle were shooting into another vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was located a few hours later where two young people were taken into custody and are being interviewed at this time.
