Phase two began in 2017. Construction started in 2018. In phase two, two miles of new roadway was added for easier access to Grissom High School and Redstone Arsenal.
Haysland road will also connect to future neighborhoods and other developments that will grow in the area.
Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle said, "People could come to Grissom High School or could come to the shopping here and not add to the traffic on the Parkway, and the circulation was key to making us continue to be able to grow and grow in this area."
Paths 12-foot wide were also added along the road so students can walk and bike to school, and people in the area can be connected to future park space.
