Police arrest two after high-speed chase in stolen car in Russellville

Russellville Police say pursuit continued into Colbert County, ending at the intersection of U.S. 72 and Wilson Dam Road.

RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. — Two people have been arrested following a high-speed chase early Wednesday morning. According to the Russellville Police, officers spotted a suspicious car near a closed business. When officers approached, the driver sped away, committing several traffic violations. Officers then began a high-speed chase, reaching speeds of 110 mph. The pursuit continued into Colbert County, ending at the intersection of U.S. 72 and Wilson Dam Road.

The two people ran away on foot but were quickly arrested, police said. The car was found to be stolen from a nearby area.

Cassie Brooke Cummings and Michael Andrew Harrison were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property in the first degree, felony attempt to elude a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana in the second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Colbert County Sheriff’s Office, Sheffield Police Department, and Muscle Shoals Police Department assisted in the pursuit.
