IDER, Ala. — As the new school year begins, parents and guardians are being alerted of a new type of THC/Nicotine vape pen that is now available. According to Chief Stephen Malone of the Ider Police Department, these devices are designed to resemble everyday items such as pens, sharpies, and highlighters.
Chief Malone shared on social media that some of these pens can be filled with more than just nicotine; they might have THC or even dangerous drugs like fentanyl, sparking concerns among law enforcement.
"Last year, a twelve-year-old student in Georgia nearly lost his life after using a vape pen laced with THC and fentanyl," Chief Malone stated in the post. "If a twelve year old can get his hands on this type of drug, so can your children. Talk to your children about peer pressure and the consequences of using one of these devices, it’s not always just nicotine."
