Red Lobster set to reopen Huntsville location

The restaurant, located at 1818 University Drive NW, will resume serving its popular seafood menu.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Get excited, seafood fans! Red Lobster is making a comeback in Huntsville.

The grand reopening is set for Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, at 11 a.m. The restaurant, located at 1818 University Drive NW, will resume service with its well-known seafood menu.

The reopening was confirmed by the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber.

The announcement follows significant challenges faced by the seafood chain earlier this year. In May 2024, Red Lobster filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed dozens of locations across the U.S.

The closures were part of a broader strategy to reject leases for restaurants deemed financially unviable. The list of closures included at least 132 locations in 31 states, including high-profile spots like the Times Square location in New York.

Red Lobster has not provided any specific reasons for choosing this location to reopen.
