HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A systems outage left an unknown number of Regions Bank customers without the use of their debit cards Monday morning, though a spokesperson tells FOX54 the situation was corrected by the lunch hour.
The problem appeared to be widespread, with many of those affected discovering the issue when they tried to make a transaction.
"Who else having issue with regions bank this morning?" asked one user on the social media platform, X.
Another posted: "Regions Bank is completely down right now. Can’t even transfer money. Gonna be a long day out here without lunch lol."
A bank representative answered some of the concerns with a response acknowledging the problem.
"We're currently having an issue with declined debit card transactions," the online post explained. "Our technology partners are working to resolve this as soon as possible."
The representative directed customers to a bank branch if they require immediate access to their funds.
By noon, the problems were resolved, according to a bank representative.
"This morning, we were made aware of an issue with debit cards being declined for certain transactions, including at ATMs," Ashley Foster told FOX54. "All impacted services have now been restored, and transactions are processing as normal. We apologize for any customer inconvenience – and we appreciate the diligence of our technology teams in providing a quick resolution."
Regions Bank, based in Birmingham, operates about 220 branches in Alabama and about 1,500 in total.
