North Alabama man convicted of killing ex-wife

A Morgan County jury convicted Roger Dale Stevens for capital murder on Wednesday, November 18.

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. — A Morgan County jury found Roger Dale Stevens guilty of capital murder on Wednesday, November 18.

Stevens was accused of fatally shooting his ex-wife, Kay Stevens, at a bakery she operated in 2015. According to the Associated Press, Kay Stevens was killed shortly after their divorce was finalized.

Roger Stevens was arrested the same day after a standoff with police at his home.

The jury convicted Roger Dale Stevens for capital murder. The court ordered that he remain in custody without bond while sentencing is pending. A sentencing hearing has been set for Dec. 16, 2020, at 9 a.m.
