Scottsboro City Schools responds to student threat

Scottsboro City Schools released a statement on their handling of a threat of one student against another.

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — Earlier today, Scottsboro City Schools shared their response to a threat at Scottsboro High School. The names of the students and the nature of the threat have not been released.

Starla Finch, secretary to the Superintendent Dr. Sandra Spivey, released the following statement:

This afternoon, August 21st, 2024, Scottsboro City Schools learned that a student at Scottsboro High School made a threat toward another student. The District and school administration have taken immediate action to ensure student safety. The Scottsboro Police Department has been informed and will aid in handling the situation appropriately. 

While the administration and the police department continue the investigation, this offending student has been suspended pending further disciplinary action consistent with our student code of conduct. Scottsboro City Schools appreciates the help and partnership of the Scottsboro Police Department. 

The District’s highest priority is ensuring the safety of its students, faculty, and staff, and the District believes its actions in handling this matter are consistent with that priority.
