Sensory Inclusive Santa to provide calm environment for families

WellStone and KultureCity will give 200 children with Sensory Sensitivities a more private and protected Santa experience.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Sensory Inclusive Santa is looking to provide a calm environment for children and families this holiday with a one-on-one experience with Santa. The event will be held downtown on Dec. 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church of the Nativity. Registration for Sensory Inclusive Santa is now open and free.

Children participating will get gifts and enjoy treats in a calm and quieter holiday setting. The event will also feature a professional photographer to capture those memories. Guests will receive the rights to fully edited images, including family portraits.

Big crowds, long lines, and fluorescent lights can overwhelm sensory sensitive children experiencing Santa at crowded malls and other public venues. This year, WellStone and KultureCity will give 200 children with Sensory Sensitivities a more private and protected Santa experience.

WellStone is North Alabama’s largest behavioral healthcare provider and a nonprofit community organization that helps anyone with a sensory need or an invisible disability. Founded in Birmingham, AL, KultureCity is also an nonprofit organization that trains staff at venues and certifies venues for sensory inclusive modifications. The organization also provides applications for Apple and Android devices which lists sensory friendly venues around the United States.
