Verbal fight leads to gunfire at Bridge Street, injuring 2

Two juveniles were wounded when an argument escalated to gunfire, according to Huntsville police.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Police say an argument between juveniles led to a shooting that took place Saturday evening near the Cinemark movie theater at Bridge Street Town Center.

Police said the shooting happened just before 7:30 p.m.; witnesses said it took place in the parking lot near the cinema and the Red Robin restaurant. Video provided to FOX54 showed a crowd of onlookers watching as a HEMSI ambulance and police vehicles were stationed throughout the parking lot as the investigation was carried out.

Investigators said the verbal exchange between the group of youths escalated and one person fired a gun.

A police update given about 10:15 p.m. Saturday said both victims had non-threatening injuries. Earlier in the evening, HEMSI Chief Don Webster told FOX54 a female victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and that a male victim was taken to Huntsville Hospital's Trauma Services Center in serious but stable condition.

Huntsville Police added the incident was isolated in nature and the incident was no longer considered active at about 8:10 p.m.

A weapon was recovered at the scene, police confirmed.

Three people were detained for questioning by police, and one juvenile was eventually taken to the Neaves Davis Center after being charged with first-degree assault.
