HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — UPDATE: Huntsville police are seeking the public's help in their investigation of a deadly shooting over the weekend.
The shooting happened around 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, in the 1200 block of Hobbs Island Road. Responding officers found Kirk Urban, 49, suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Urban was rushed to Huntsville Hospital but later died to his injuries.
According to HPD, a witness said they saw Kirk Urban was involved in a verbal altercation with a middle-aged white male when gunfire erupted. Investigators suspect the man was swimming nearby with his wife and two children before the altercation.
The witness also informed investigators that the family left the scene in a white, full-size crew-cab pickup truck.
