HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Spring is just around the corner, and the CDC explains that a few tips for a healthy spring include moving more and sitting less, eating healthy foods, and choosing your drinks wisely. This Wellness Wednesday, FOX54 hears just how the community is preparing for spring.
Some local community members share what they are most looking forward to as spring approaches. "I'm most excited just about spending days in the park with my friends. You know, it's so fun just being out here in the beautiful weather and, you know, just spending time with everyone and seeing the happiness all around," said Damien Gray.
Bryanna Brazelle is in agreement with Gray. "Same answer, honestly. Just the beautiful weather and just having not the cold anymore. Yeah, I am really looking forward to just being able to spend time outside. Just the beautiful weather and the nice sun. So, I've been trying to be a bit more mindful and everything and just enjoy outside."
Huntsville Psychotherapist and Psychotherapy & Counseling Services Owner Monretta Vega also shares some spring wellness tips. "Get outside, enjoy the fresh air, get the Vitamin D from the sun. Let's also make sure that we're doing a little bit of spring cleaning because we may have been able to adjust to what the weather was like during the winter, but now we can blossom with the spring. And then, we also want to be mindful of social interactions. There will be a lot of activities in the city. So you want to get out here, you want to interact with family and friends and socialize, but stay hydrated. We may want to think of some new things to revamp this newness that comes along with spring."
Furthermore, warmer weather may also play a role. "Springtime, it will improve your mood and your emotions because we have this time we'll see a few more birds, hear the birds chirping. We get to see the trees and the flowers blossom and bloom. And that in itself is a renewing in our spirit and in our mind. and it helps us feel a little bit more positive for what's coming for the remainder of the year."
