HUNTSVILLE, Ala — Do you have your STAR ID? The deadline is coming up!
You have six months to get your STAR ID.
Starting October 1, every air passenger in the country will need a REAL ID or another form of identification for domestic travel.
The STAR ID is Alabama’s version for the REAL ID.
According to ALEA, after October 1, people who do not have an unexpired U.S. passport will need an Alabama STAR ID to board domestic flights or to get in certain regulated federal facilities.
We spoke with Barbie Peek, Director of Business with Huntsville International Airport. She advises travelers, "You have to get your local licensing department and make sure you get your driver’s license redone. If you haven’t already had your STAR ID done, here will be a star on the front of your license and you’ll have to have that to travel.”
You can get your STAR ID from an ALEA Driver License Exam Office.
