State officials award grant to Huntsville Parkinson's organization

Parkinson's Dynamics offers the chance for patients to get regular exercise and other resources to help manage their condition.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Parkinson's Dynamics, a Huntsville-based organization that aids families and patients living with Parkinson's disease the resources and facilities to manage their condition, was the recipient of a $25,000 grant award on Monday.

The money will be used to purchase new gym equipment for the group's newly-renovated facility at John Hunt Park.

Therapy programs created by the organization include their "RockSteady" boxing program, speech therapy, and general wellness outreach.

State Rep. Rex Reynolds said he holds Parkinson's Dynamics in high regard.

"It's absolutely vital to those that are here," he said. "I saw this about two years ago and I was just amazed. I had a friend going through the program and and he invited me down to see the program."

The grant money came in part through the Alabama's Mountains, Rivers & Valleys Resource, Conservation and Development Council.
