Suspect in Decatur gas station shooting turns self in

Amreion Jamall Lampkin turned himself in Sunday after being developed as a suspect in the July 7 shooting, police said

DECATUR, Ala. — A man has turned himself in to Decatur authorities one week after a shooting that injured two people. Police said that Amreion Jamall Lampkin was developed as a suspect through the investigation of the shooting.

According to the Decatur Police Department, officers responded to the Chevron gas station, located at 1029 Danville Rd. SW, in reference to a shooting around 8:45 p.m. the night of July 7.

When police arrived, they found that two people had been shot. Both were taken to Huntsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. DPD also shared an occupied vehicle and an occupied residence had been hit by bullets.

Lampkin was charged with first-degree assault and taken to the Morgan County Jail. Bond was set at $25,000.
