HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — If you're a fan of hiking or other outdoor activities, the Sweet Trails Alabama Tour is your chance to learn about a project to identify existing trails and find new trails in outdoor recreation areas. The hope is that increased awareness will get more people outdoors and grow local economies and tourism.
The nine-city tour runs from October 2-6 with stops in:
- Huntsville
- Florence
- Tuscaloosa
- Selma
- Atmore
- Dothan
- Montgomery
- Birmingham
- Jacksonville
According to Sweet Trails Alabama, at each stop, guests will get to hear from local speakers about their visions for strengthening community bonds and creating new opportunities in "health and wellness, tourism, economic development, entrepreneurial growth, quality of life, workforce development, community engagement, and natural resource conservation."
The Sweet Trails Alabama Tour is presented in conjunction with Singing River Trail and Jacksonville State University. Singing River Trail is a 200+ greenway project across North Alabama.
