Task force being formed to protect Limestone County citizens

Leaders in Limestone County are taking steps to help protect the public.

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — Leaders across Limestone County came together Friday morning to discuss what they're doing to protect the public from the coronavirus.

They met at the Limestone County EMA Office, where plans for a new task force were announced.

Limestone County EMA Director Rita White said the mayor, county commission, city and county schools, Athens State University and Athens Limestone Hospital will all be a part of the task force.

"All of the agencies are going through their plans and determining what best can be done to protect our citizens," said White. "They are all taking precautions. They are doing extra cleaning in all the facilities. Schools are taking those extra steps also."

White said some emergency response organizations will also be a part of the task force.
