HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The mother of a Grissom High School student who was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run accident earlier this month says the teenager is on the move from Huntsville Hospital to rehab at Children's.
In a post to Facebook on Thursday, Nicole Drouin said her son, Chandler, will continue his recovery at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children.
She credited the doctors and nurses who have cared for Chandler since his arrival on Oct. 13. Chandler sustained multiple injuries, including broken bones in his leg, chest and face.
His mother shared a photo showing Chandler enjoying a morning visit from Heart to Heart Pet Partners.
In a post on Wednesday, Nicole Drouin said Chandler had been fitted with a walking boot and was taking steps in the hospital.
Police arrested Jarod Severance shortly after the incident and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident and 2nd degree assault. Records reviewed by FOX54 on Friday show that Severance is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 6.
Severance is being held at the Madison County Jail and has not posted bond, which was set at $60,000.

Yay!!! After TWO weeks at Huntsville Hospital Chandler is to his next stop! We moved to Huntsville 10 months ago and who would have thought that we would be in the perfect spot 11 minutes from the house to a Trauma ICU that was filled with some of the best doctors and nurses! Excited to go back to visit and Chandler will walk in to show them his progress
Chandler and Alex will be at Children's for rehab. He will stay and get the care he needs so that way when he gets home he will have the resources and tools he needs to thrive.
I will update from time to time but even I won't be there daily to see the progress but please know that all your prayers mattered, God hears them and boy he has some big plans for this kid and we cant wait to see it all unfold!!!
